My Favorite Things
I Love To Cook
I have this ability to create a meal out of whatever I have in my pantry and make it taste wonderful. I’ve been called a creative cook by many. However, over the years, I have learned that in order to be a creative cook there are few essentials you must in your pantry. Although I prefer making dips, sauces, appetizers and main dishes, I do make a mean bread pudding.
Friends and family are deeply important to me. One of my greatest joys is to provide my guests with a warm, inviting home to relax in, a delicious meal and did I mention a good time? My family and many of my friends are entertainers and when we get together someone is always singing, playing music or dancing! I like to think that we are the “fun peopleâ€.
I Love To Travel
Not only do I love to travel, I love to submerge myself in the culture of the country I’m in. You won’t find me in a commercial mall or doing the touristy things, you’re likely to find me at the local restaurant around the people enjoying what they do as if I’d lived there my whole life.
I Love To Write
Ever since I was little girl I have spent hours writing letters and poems. I was never an avid reader like my parents but I did spend my spare time writing letters expressing how I felt’ sometimes for hours until I just had to go to bed. Never did I imagine this would lead me to becoming a published author. But again, writing has always been easy for me; a gift if you will. A few years ago, I accomplished something I never thought to be possible, I wrote a 500 page book for McGraw Hill designed for my industry and I did it in 4 months!
I am not very flowery with my words, I would even go as far as saying I am simple writer; I like to get to the point quickly. This is probably why I have never enjoyed reading fiction; I prefer to read books that will help me to be a better person or get closer to God. One time I was given a book by a friend and was told it was the best book they had ever read; many other have said the same thing about this book. After three chapters I had to stop reading it. This book, in my opinion, was so full of meaningless words. It was so flowery I kept losing concentration and finally quit deeming the book a useless waste of time. I know many others have felt the same way, they want to get the point of the book quickly and when they are finished they want to be changed.
Please don’t misunderstand me, if you are one who enjoys fiction, I really do envy you. I wish I could love it as much as you do. It’s just one of those things about me that I can’t seem to change. I had a dream not too long ago that has the potential of becoming a great novel. The dream was full of spirituality and had a gripping end and so if I am able to muster up the courage and just enough creativity I may write it.
My Favorite Color
Purple has always been my favorite color; it can’t just be any purple however, it must be royal purple. I have never made the connection as to why but I do that know that it typically represents royalty. I know that purple has always been a sign of royalty and that throughout the centuries Kings and Queens were known by wearing it.
I Appreciate Art & Décor
I wish I were an artist like my eldest daughter and son; in fact they are great artists. Even though I do not have a knack for it like they do, I have a deep appreciation and love for art. It can be any type of art, but my favorite is the kind that draws you in and takes you to a place where you are able to dream and get lost.
I also love and appreciate decorating. I have a good eye for quality and I know how to make a room look great even by just looking at it. My style has changed as I have, but right now I have a love for Old World, Tuscan and Mediterranean. I do love Oriental, but have only decorated one room in such a way and that is my prayer room.
